{photo by Bryan Veloso}

At last! No more redundant tiled photo background, blinking text, and auto-playing background music. With the exception of Friendster, Myspace blogs, the majority of sore-eye pinoy blogs of the past are but now a minority. Thanks to the ever-evolving Content Management System (CMS), Filipino blog designs everywhere never looked so good.

The gallery below showcase the most awesome Filipino Blog Designs for 2006. It exemplies why in the hands of a talented pinoy designer, any blog can appeal to the eye, be eminently usable, and can also creatively throw the rulebook out of the window.

The Three Inherent Flaws of the Blog Juice Calculator

Continued from Pinoy Blog Ranking

1. Unique Visitors/Page Views: 15%

Blog Juice measures traffic through visitors using Amazon owned measuring tool, Alexa. Without the software, the blog's visitor don't get measured. Now, how many people uses Alexa?

However, this limit is also present at almost all blog traffic measuring softwares, such as Google Analytics, Sitemeter, and Statcounter - install first before measuring. An example of this is The Truth Laid Bear Ranking which uses Sitemeter. Still, it's better than nothing.

Sometimes though, a page view is not a good indicator of a site's juice. Niche blogs with low traffic, yet high percentage of returning and targeted visitors have in my opinion, a high juice in their own specific categories. 'Tis better to be a big fish in a small pond, than a big fish in a very big ocean.

Pinoy Blog Ranking: Blog Juice & Page Rank

Since the Blog Juice Calculator doesn't include regions or countries as their categories, I decided to list the Juice of Filipino bloggers. I also divided the list by an increment of 1 for easier viewing. Google Page Rank was used as a tie-breaker. In cases where BJ and PR is the same, Technorati ranking was used as a tie-breaker.

Only blog pages are measured. For example, a blog directory containing blog entries (yourdomain.com/blog) will be measured while a website's homepage (yourdomain.com) containing no blog entries will not be included in the list.

I will try to be as comprehensive as possible, including as much Filipino Bloggers as possible on the list. So every first week of the month, I will update the list. In the near future, I will host the list on it's own domain. I also plan on putting categories when the list is hosted, so that it can be viewed by BJ, PR, etc.

Since the results can be viewed easily by visiting the blog juice page, I added Basang Panaginip on the list as well for transparency sake.
