Pedophile Priest

Run, little boy!

Run for your life!

- Sir Alfred Hitchcock

Driving through a Swiss city one day, Sir Alfred Hitchcock, the British filmmaker famous for suspense and thriller movies, suddenly pointed out of the car window and said, "That is the most frightening sight I have ever seen." His companion was surprised to see nothing more alarming that a priest in conversation with a little boy, his hand on the child's shoulder. "Run, little boy," cried Hitchcock, leaning out of the car. "Run for your life!"

2007 Oscar Nominated Documentary

Hitchcock was not alone in his knowledge of Catholic Priests Sexual Abuse. Countless of arts, from Jose Rizal's novel Noli Me Tangere to John Smith's movie The Boys of St. Vincent, illustrate in explicit detail how the Catholic hierarchy breeds sexual repressions that leads to distorted sexuality.

This years Oscar nominated documentary Deliver Us From Evil, once again opens up this pandora's box of a subject. Amy Berg follows and chronicles a priest from California who molested dozens of parishioners, including raping a 9-month-old infant and the mother of one of his teenage victims. Unlike most documentary, Deliver Us From Evil doesn't use grating voice-over, as the story unfolds for itself.

Amy Berg film is scarier than any movie I've seen this year - it pierces me watching the victims, as well as the calm rapist, who spoke in front of the camera. What's more it enrages the senses to discover how corrupt the Catholic Church hierarchy - from the Cardinals who cover-up rape cases by transferring pedophiles to other parishes, to Pope Benedict who sent a memo to hide the abuse, to George W. Bush who granted pedophile priest immunity from prosecution.

Deliver Us From Evil is more devastating than Hand of God, thematically more expansive than last year's oscar-nominated Twist of Faith, and more gut-wrenching than last year's BAFTA award-winning documentary Sex Crimes And The Vatican.

i am so disappointed at some of our catholic priests. I have no respect for a few priests I know. It's really shocking.

I think priesthood is very unhealthy for anyone. I don't blame the priests for being as sick as they are. That just shows how the whole religion needs a good overhaul.

scary and shocking...this time and age, we cannot just trust anyone, not even the men in robes. we have to protect ourselves, we have to protect our children.
