gta coke ad

While watching the videos of 2007 Superbowl Ads, I couldn't help but noticed that most of them are created as though they're deliberately intended for Youtube. Most if not the majority are viral in nature, crafted for temporary consumption.

But then, out of the junk food ads, comes this gem of an advertisement:

Coca-Cola ad agency Wieden + Kennedy has cleverly spun the web of its creative juice and turned the ultra-violent megahit Rockstar video game, Grand Theft Auto, into its own head.

The violence, and gore aspect of the video game was rewritten. Teethering on the brink of street justice, the protagonist drank Coke, and surprise, surprise! The anti-hero becomes hero, Achilles coming out of his cocoon. He develops a social conscience - the bleak, noir atmosphere metamorphisized into a mardi gras of love.

The GTA Coke Ad is the best Video Ad of 2006, and is probably one of the best that Coca-Cola has ever produced.

Give a little Love!

Actually, I first saw that Coke commercial in movie theaters in the 2nd half of 2006. I got tired of seeing it in fact, since I tend to see a lot of movies.
